Same-day flower delivery across the Upper West Side
We are an Upper West Side florist, not a national brand routing orders to a wholesaler. Every bouquet leaves our studio at 54 W 70th Street between Columbus and Central Park West, hand-arranged the morning of delivery and walked or driven to your recipient by our own team. There is no third-party courier in the chain.
Order online or by phone before 2pm ET on any weekday or Saturday and the arrangement arrives that afternoon. Delivery on the Upper West Side is $20 — same flat rate whether the recipient is two blocks from us at the Beresford or thirty blocks north at Columbia. We do not surcharge for distance within the neighbourhood.
Every delivery includes a hand-written card, gift wrap, and a delivery photo texted to the sender once the arrangement is in the recipient's hand. If the recipient is not home, we do not leave the arrangement in a hallway — we call the sender and reschedule. Flowers wilt in lobbies; we built around that.
The Upper West Side ZIPs we cover
"Upper West Side" means different things to different people. Our same-day coverage runs from 59th Street north to 125th, west of Central Park to the Hudson. Three ZIPs, each with its own delivery character:
10023 — Lincoln Center, Columbus Circle, the 60s and low 70s
The most-delivered ZIP for us. Lincoln Center performance gifts (Met Opera, NY Philharmonic, NYCB at David Koch), Time Warner Center offices, the high-rises along Broadway and Amsterdam, the brownstones between Central Park West and Columbus. Doorman buildings are the norm here — we hand the arrangement to the front desk and confirm by text. Same-day deliveries to Lincoln Center stage doors: brief us by noon.
10024 — The 70s, 80s and into the 90s, AMNH, the Beresford
Our home ZIP. We deliver dozens of arrangements a week through the doorman buildings along Central Park West — the Beresford, the San Remo, the Eldorado — and the pre-war co-ops on Riverside Drive and West End. The townhouse blocks on West 75th, 76th, 77th and 78th are walked, not driven. AMNH staff and birthday gifts: same-day from any morning order.
10025 — The 90s, Columbia gates, Morningside Heights
From 96th Street north through Columbia and into Morningside. The student-and-faculty market on this end of the neighbourhood means we get last-minute graduation orders, faculty office gifts, and Columbia Medical Center patient flowers. We deliver to all Columbia buildings (Mathematics, Butler, Casa Italiana) and to the New York-Presbyterian Hospital network. For hospital deliveries, brief us on patient name, room number and ward by 1pm ET.
How we handle Upper West Side buildings
The UWS is a building-typology neighbourhood. Pre-war doorman co-ops, brownstone walk-ups, post-war high-rises, hospital wings, university blocks — each has its own delivery rules. Our couriers have done this for years and we have a delivery note on file for most of the major buildings.
- Doorman buildings (CPW, West End, Broadway): we hand the arrangement to the front desk, log the recipient name, and the doorman delivers up. Photo confirmation is sent to the sender once handed off.
- Brownstones and townhouses: we ring the bell. If no answer, we call the sender immediately rather than leave on the stoop.
- Walk-ups (mainly in the 80s and 90s): we walk up. No surcharge.
- Lincoln Center and Met Opera: stage-door and dressing-room deliveries — brief us by noon with the production and the dressing-room number.
- NY-Presbyterian / Mount Sinai West / Columbia: we have hospital delivery protocols for fragrance limits, latex, and floor restrictions. Mention the ward in your order notes.
- Office buildings and lobbies: we deliver to the reception desk with a recipient name. Floor-by-floor delivery available for corporate brief at $5/desk.

Occasions we deliver into on the Upper West Side
The Upper West Side has its own gifting rhythm. The arrangements that work in Midtown lobbies do not always land here. Some of what we know:
- Lincoln Center performance flowers: single-stem long-stem roses or a compact dressing-room arrangement. We brief stage doors directly when needed.
- Columbia graduations: May commencement is our busiest UWS-north week. Pre-order three days out for guaranteed same-day on ceremony day.
- AMNH event flowers: Whether for an exhibit opening or a private function, we handle the entire load-in.
- Hospital delivery (NY-Presbyterian, Mount Sinai West): small fragrance-controlled arrangements, photo confirmation on hand-off.
- Brownstone dinner parties: low-line table arrangements that fit between candles and don't block sight-lines. Brief us by noon for a 6pm seated dinner.
- Anniversary and birthday gifting: we hold notes on repeat-recipients so the second arrangement is not the same as the first.
Why order from Alaric instead of another Upper West Side florist
There are three or four florists on the UWS people have heard of. We get asked the difference often enough that it's worth being direct.
We are a single-location, owner-led studio. Our founder Lena Yelagina opened Alaric on the Upper West Side in 2006 and still designs every signature arrangement. Our team is small (six floral designers, two delivery), which means the person who answers your call is also the person who arranges your flowers. We do not have call-centre staff and we do not route same-day orders to wire services.
We source twice a week directly from the New York flower district. We do not stock filler from cold storage; every stem in your arrangement was at the market within the previous 48 hours. This is why our prices start at $95 and not $40 — fresh-source pricing, not loss-leader pricing.
4.8 stars across 600+ reviews. We deliver about 40 arrangements a day on a normal Tuesday, three times that during Mother's Day week, and we have not missed a Lincoln Center performance call in nineteen years.
Frequently asked questions
What is the cutoff for same-day Upper West Side delivery?
2pm ET, Monday through Saturday. Orders placed before 2pm are delivered the same afternoon. Orders after 2pm are delivered the following morning. We are closed on Sundays.
Which Upper West Side ZIPs do you deliver to?
10023, 10024, and 10025. That covers Columbus Circle and Lincoln Center north through the 80s and 90s into Morningside Heights, and west of Central Park to the Hudson.
How much is delivery on the Upper West Side?
$20, flat. Same rate across all three UWS ZIPs. No distance surcharge within the neighbourhood and no fuel surcharge.
Do you deliver to doorman buildings?
Yes — most of our UWS deliveries are doorman buildings. We hand the arrangement to the front desk, log the recipient name, and the doorman delivers up. The sender receives a photo confirmation once it is handed off.
Can you deliver to Lincoln Center stage doors?
Yes — Met Opera, NY Philharmonic, NYCB at David Koch, all dressing rooms and stage doors. Brief us by noon with the production and the recipient's role. Single stems or compact arrangements only — large bouquets do not fit dressing rooms.
Can you deliver to NY-Presbyterian or Mount Sinai West?
Yes. Hospital deliveries need patient name, room number and ward — please add these to the order notes. We follow fragrance and latex restrictions and do not deliver to ICU or oncology wards without confirmation.
How do I send anonymously on the Upper West Side?
Tick "anonymous sender" at checkout and we will not include sender details on the card. Recipient will see only the message you write. We never reveal sender information to recipients without your express permission.
Do you offer same-day Upper West Side delivery on Sundays?
No. The studio is closed on Sundays. Orders placed Sunday are delivered Monday afternoon. For urgent Sunday deliveries (sympathy or hospital), email us at hello@alaricflowers.com and we will see what we can arrange.
Can you deliver flowers same-day to an Upper West Side office?
Yes, same 2pm cutoff. We deliver to reception with a recipient name. For floor-by-floor delivery to multiple recipients in the same building, brief us by noon and we arrange a flat-rate group delivery.
Do you do wedding and event flowers for Upper West Side venues?
Yes — the Boathouse, New-York Historical Society, Tavern on the Green, Mandarin Oriental at Columbus Circle, and private brownstone receptions. Event flowers are a separate consultation; email events@alaricflowers.com.
